Great Dunmow is a town of just under 9,000 people and is in Essex. The Neighbourhood Planning process is seen as essential to helping local people shape the town's growth. As well as describing the structures, links and groups established to help progress the Plan, they outline the community engagement carried out so far. This includes specific events with schools and a planned event with the local business community.

However the group has found it helpful to have a project plan setting out what they need to do and a good working relationship with the local planning authority.

The Postcard from Chapel-en-le-Frith features Hugh Barton, Chair of Chapel Vision. Chapel-en-le-Frith is a rural parish in Derbyshire. Hugh explains how their model of a steering committee and working groups has helped them progress their Neighbourhood Plan, with each working group focusing on a specific topic such as housing, transport or employment. Chapel Vision is also working hard to keep the whole community involved and up-to-date with progress, using a variety of methods (e.g. website, face to face meetings and postal questionnaires).
