The Community Rights give you the power to make a difference in your community. You can get involved in local decision making, helping you to work with others to make your area a better place to live. There are two main grants and programmes available to support groups to take ownership of their services and assets. These are 'Our Place 2015-16' and 'Community Ownership and Management of Assets (COMA) 2015-16.'
Parish councils and neighbourhood forums across the country are securing funding from a range of sources to support the development of their neighbourhood plan. This ranges from funding from the Big Lottery fund, the Big Local Award and their local planning authority.
Last month Locality and its partners launched a new funding programme worth £22.5 million for neighbourhood planning and £3.5 million for community buildings. The programme is already proving popular with over 260 applications for funding and technical support and £1 million allocated to help groups write their neighbourhood plan.
Central Milton Keynes Business Neighbourhood Plan passed referendum on the 8th May 2015 with both residents and businesses voting in favour of the Plan.
